How many motorcyclist deaths occur among different age groups?

There are many ways to analyze fatal motorcycle accidents in order to develop a better understanding of the ins and outs of these crashes and focus on prevention. From the time of day to alcohol consumption, there are many factors that can play a role in the prevalence of motorcycle wrecks and offer warning signs for motorcyclists to be aware of. Age is another factor that may have an impact on a person’s likelihood of being involved in a fatal motorcycle crash and there are multiple ways in which age may affect riding abilities. For example, a younger driver may lack experience while an older driver may struggle with their vision.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that during 2016, a total of 1,488 motorcyclists under the age of 30 passed away in motorcycle crashes. For those aged between 30 and 39 years old, there were 952 fatalities, while 901 people between the ages of 40 and 49 lost their lives in motorcycle wrecks over the course of 2016. 1,940 motorcyclists who were over the age of 50 passed away in accidents throughout the year. Clearly, motorcyclists of all ages face significant risks on the road and may lose their lives in an accident.

It is essential to be mindful of the common causes of motorcycle accidents and avoid riding your motorcycle if you believe that there is a much higher risk of being involved in a crash. Sadly, reckless drivers endanger innocent lives every day and even motorcyclists who are heavily focused on traffic safety may lose their lives in a wreck.
