Attorney Bill Caroselli successfully advocates for Greene County property owner against Big Oil and Gas

Big oil and gas companies do not back down to many of those whom they've worked over. Giant energy corporations have budgets for investments and when their numbers aren't reached or they think they can get away without paying out the full amount of royalties due to property owners, they will do it. This week, however, property owners from Western PA successfully held up an argument in court about not being paid full royalties and Caroselli, Beachler & Coleman, L.L.C. attorney, Bill Caroselli, helped them do it.

The company, Energy Corporation of America (ECA), and its affiliate, Eastern Marketing Corporation (EMCO), were successfully litigated to the tune of $900,000+ after nine property owners from Greene County effectively claimed in a lawsuit that they were improperly charged for transmission and marketing costs when ECA sold the gas it extracted from their lands to ECA's marketing affiliate, EMCO. On Thursday, a federal jury decided that the infractions, which occurred between 2006 and 2012, should afford the property owners more than $900,000. This coming regardless that throughout the hearing the company maintained that all of its royalty payments were properly made.

Attorney Caroselli believed that after interest incurred the final payment made should have been well over one million dollars. An interest-laden amount was initially claimed; however, that amount was reduced because seven of the nine landowners opted out of the class-action lawsuit. Upon an inquiry, the lead attorney for ECA was unable to be reached.
