Baby recliners recalled after 5 infant deaths reported

Pennsylvania parents may be interested to learn that the Nap Nanny and Chill Infant recliners have been recalled after five infant deaths and 92 other incidents were reported. Parents who are in possession of the defective product are advised to stop using the product and to immediately return the item to one of the major retailers that sold it.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has stated that dangerous incidents involving the recliners include infants falling over the side or becoming restrained by the harness. All of the recalled products were available in many children's stores across the nation between 2009 and 2010.

If the item cannot be returned for a refund, the CPSC urges parents to dispose of the item so that it cannot be used. The parent company, Baby Matters LLC, has gone out of business and will not accept any returns of the product.

When a company manufactures, distributes and sells an item in stores, they are responsible to ensure that the product is safe to be used. They are also responsible to place warnings and directions on how to correctly use the product to reduce the risk of any injury. If the product is unsafe and causes injury or even death, the individuals that were harmed are often entitled to compensation.

An experienced Pennsylvania personal injury attorney may be able to help their clients obtain the compensation that they deserve for any injuries caused by the defective or unsafe product. The attorney may be able to help walk their patients through the options that they have available to them and to help them with the legal steps involved in holding the businesses responsible for the product.
