Pennsylvania worker killed while using a crane

A Pennsylvania worker was recently killed in Westmoreland County, which is about 35 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. Apparently, the worker was using an industrial crane to move a large steel coil.

Unfortunately, because of the moving of materials, a several thousand pound coil then struck the worker and pinned him against other materials. The worker was later announced dead due to chest injuries received during the work-related accident.

Pennsylvania State Police and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) have been investigating as to how this accident occurred. Obviously, the outcome of these investigations will help in determining whether any safety issues existed at the workplace.

Industrial type accidents are altogether too common, and the resulting injuries are often severe or even fatal. Though workers are often highly paid for these sorts of occupations, careers are often shortened due to the working conditions that these employees endure.

Attorneys that are experienced in the personal injury, workers' compensation and products liability field can organize and investigation of these industrial accidents and determine if the employer or other parties could have done something to prevent these incidents from happening.

Also, there may be complex legal issues involved when attempting to receive compensation for what has occurred during these accidents. Personal injury claims against employers may be prohibited due to Pennsylvania workers' compensation laws, but there may also be other parties that can be held liable under personal injury or products liability theories.

Individuals that have family members killed in accidents of this type do have avenues available for recovery, but this sometimes requires exploration.
