Couple sues Arby's in federal court for slip-and-fall

Slip-and-falls are a constant threat in Pennsylvania and throughout the country. If a landlord forgets to clear a sidewalk after a snowstorm or a grocery store doesn't warn customers of a wet floor, people can easily end up getting hurt. Unfortunately, one woman recently experienced the consequences of a slip-and-fall when she was out to eat at a fast food restaurant.

The couple was out at an Arby's location when the woman slipped in a pool of water on her way to the restroom. According to the couple, there were no signs indicated that the floor was wet. The couple is arguing that Arby's employees either should have known or did know about the water on the floor. They are requesting $75,000 in damages.

Slip-and-fall cases can lead to serious injuries and even emotional trauma. In this case, is seeking compensation to cover mental and physical pain and suffering, medical expenses, disfigurement and scarring, the loss of enjoyment of life, lost wages and loss of earning capacity. In addition, they are arguing that the fall also affected her husband, who says he suffers from the loss of consortium and companionship with his wife.

Although this case did not take place in Pennsylvania, it provides a clear example of when a slip-and-fall lawsuit may be appropriate. It is completely imaginable and possible that someone in Pennsylvania could find themselves in a situation like this. When faced with serious injuries due to a store owner's negligence, it is important to understand that you have legal options. An experienced premises liability attorney can help explain them to you.
