Birth injuries result in a lifetime of suffering

A mother is alleging that birth injuries that occurred to the youngest of a set of twins came about because of a botched delivery. She claims that both the hospital and the doctor failed to monitor the child's blood pressure, and that the child's contraction of hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy also led to damage to the heart, kidneys and brain.

The mother asserts that the doctor did not keep her informed about the risks in delivering the twins. The first of the two twins died at birth and the second suffered birth injuries because of the medical negligence of the doctor.

The child will now need constant care and supervision, will likely experience a great deal of physical and emotional pain and suffering, and will experience wage loss throughout his life.

The brain damage that the child suffered is probably irreversible. This type of brain damage can cause problems in almost every aspect of daily life, and it often prevents the child from taking care of his or her self.

Only experienced attorneys can generally calculate just how much money it would take to raise a child that is brain injured from birth. The child will require medical and round the clock care. The child's life will likely be greatly shortened due to his injuries as well.

Medical malpractice lawsuits are among the most serious that can ever be tried. Though it may seem like attorneys are holding a doctor or hospital accountable for all the suffering that the child will have to go through, compensation is primarily there to prevent the family from going under financially and to provide the child with at least a minimum amount of care for what occurred.
