Failure to monitor may have led to birth injuries

When writing about birth injuries occurring due to medical malpractice, we discover that such incidents are much too common and occur in many other areas besides just Pittsburgh. Though such birth injuries often occur in similar fashion, the consequences to every family that is required to deal with such an issue are singular - and usually devastating.

A pregnant woman receiving prenatal care from a particular medical facility complained about suspicious leaking of amniotic fluid. The woman was admitted to the hospital, various monitoring and tests were conducted, and the woman was then discharged. Yet when the child was finally delivered, it was discovered that she had no heart rate or respiration.

The child did survive the ordeal, but not without consequences. The newborn child was diagnosed with hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, and for sometime after delivery she was listed as in critical condition. Currently, she is considered neurologically delayed, and she has pronounced deficits in speech and physical activity.

Attorneys experienced will do all that they can to help families out in these type of circumstances. Especially since such matters concern complex medical issues, it is a good idea to consult with attorneys that have tried medical malpractice cases in the past.

It is alleged that the treating medical facility was negligent in the monitoring and care of the mother and child. Though monitoring was conducted, it is further asserted that the hospital failed to take into account the monitoring results.

The young girl has been hospitalized a large number of times, and she continues to exhibit a large number of physical ailments. She also suffers from pain and disfigurement. Likely, she will require lifetime care - all of which care will require great expense.
