UPMC contacts patients who may have been infected by David Kwiatkoski

According to today's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, UPMC Presbyterian is in the process of contacting patients who may have been infected with hepatitis C due to actions taken by Mr. David Kwiatkowski, a former employee accused of serial infections. Mr. Kwiatkowski was a hospital technician at UPMC Presbyterian in 2008 and, according to the report, was charged with fraudulently obtaining drugs, tampering with consumer products and infecting as many as 30 patients with hepatitis C. Mr. Kwiatkowski has allegedly tested positive for hepatitis C and is accused of using syringes on himself, refilling infected syringes and circulating them for general use at the hospitals where he worked. Mr. Kwiatkowski may be facing similar accusations in Maryland, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York and Kansas. The detailed article issued by the Post-Gazette is titled "hepatitis C."
