Investigation of Pittsburgh accident may take weeks

A 61-year old man died recently in a pedestrian accident that occurred in downtown Pittsburgh. The accident occurred at Liberty Avenue and Grant Street and investigators are making efforts to reconstruct the accident before preparing any final reports.

Reconstruction of the accident could take several weeks as investigators would like to interview the driver of the vehicle and the various witnesses to the accident. The unit unfortunately was not called to the scene of the accident immediately because the pedestrian was listed in stable condition and was talking to paramedics at the scene. As it turned out, the pedestrian died a day and a half later after being taken to the hospital.

There may be any number of reasons as to why a particular accident has occurred. Visibility, lighting, the amount of traffic, and the placement of traffic signals may all have played some part in the way the accident occurred. There also may not be a single individual at fault, but it's possible that a number of factors contributed to what has occurred.

Family members of a deceased individual that died in such an accident often will seek independent representation in these types of cases due to the family's desire to understand how the accident occurred. Though police departments often do their best with the resources that they have, these departments are usually dealing with a number of other investigations or sidetracked due to some pressing issue. Attorneys experienced in personal injury matters with the resources to investigate the accident can often review the facts and draw their own conclusions.
