Recent product recalls in the United States

There have been a series of products recently recalled in states such as Pennsylvania. These would include battery cases, elliptical trainers, golf carts, and flashlights. The batteries can overheat, exercise equipment presents dangers of individuals falling from the equipment, fuel tanks on golf carts can leak creating fire hazards, and plastic flashlights can overheat or melt during prolonged use. More information concerning the recalls can be found on the Consumer Product Safety Commission website (

Product recalls usually occur when dangers are presented concerning certain products that may cause injuries to its users. Though product recalls are considered precautionary measures by manufacturers, very seldom do these same companies ever admit fault if an injury actually does occur while using the product. The recalls more often than not are put in place by the companies to avoid as much adverse publicity as is possible in the event individual or individuals are actually injured by said products. However, consumers would be well advised to understand that a recall will not automatically remove every defective product from the market.

Since large manufacturers often have attorneys on staff, an individual injured by a product like those mentioned above would be well advised to seek legal counsel for injuries received. Experienced counsel in the area of product liability will understand the strategies that large companies will use in defending themselves in such suits.

Every year, thousands of individuals from Pennsylvania and other areas around the United States are injured while using a product that was marketed as being safe. Companies will make excuses for the injuries caused by use of their products by placing limitations on warranties issued with the product or by placing warnings on the products that may or may not warn of any potential danger with any specificity.
